Razak, who is also the Kedah assembly deputy speaker, said he was not aligned with Umno and would stick with the opposition Perikatan Nasional.
“I thank them for their sympathy. But we actually have a new home. God-willing, we will announce which party we will be joining soon. And we will be remaining with PN,” he told FMT.
Hamzah and others aligned with him and those previously sacked by Bersatu remain partyless despite speculation that they would take over existing parties or join PAS.
Yesterday, Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki issued an open invitation to several Bersatu leaders who were sacked and suspended to join his party, saying Umno was prepared to receive them with no conditions.
Bersatu had sacked Razak, Suka Menanti assemblyman and Kedah executive councilor Dzowahir Ab Ghani, as well as deputy youth chief Faiz Rahmad for breaching the party constitution and its code of conduct and ethics.
Razak claimed that he was sacked because of his close relationship with Hamzah, the former Bersatu deputy president, who himself was expelled from Bersatu in February at the height of a leadership tussle with party president Muhyiddin Yassin.
Razak also claimed that his sacking was aimed at weakening PN’s position in Kedah.
He nonetheless said he will continue carrying out his state government roles as deputy speaker and also chairman of the state public accounts committee.
