
In tabling the 13MP, Anwar said the government would revise TVET programmes with an emphasis on high-growth, high-value industries and advanced technology.
He said this was to meet the needs of the labour market and supporting initiatives like the Johor-Singapore special economic zone.
“Within the 13MP’s implementation period, Malaysia aims to create 700,000 new jobs in the manufacturing sector and 500,000 more careers in the field of digital economy.
“To encourage youth involvement, the government will introduce a Madani TVET financing scheme and a TVET training fund,” he told the Dewan Rakyat.
He added that Malaysia aimed to be among the top 20 nations in the Global Innovation Index as a benchmark of the nation’s competitiveness at the global level.
The 13MP lays out the country’s development plan for the next five years.
