Clarifying the remarks he made during his policy speech about reviving MN, Hadi said the party has had talks with some Umno leaders, excluding the Umno president, on plans to revive the “true” MN.
“The original discussion focussed on uniting Malay Muslims and Bumiputeras. We agreed to assemble Bumiputera MPs to explore forming a government with Bersatu, excluding Zahid and other Umno leaders, during Zahid’s leave,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the 70th PAS muktamar in Temerloh, Pahang, today.
“(We propose to) bring together Malay-Bumiputera leaders, including non-Muslims who are moderate and not extreme.”
Umno and PAS formed MN in 2019 as an electoral pact with the main aim of uniting the Malay-Muslim vote, but it collapsed after PAS chose to work with Bersatu, which Umno viewed as a betrayal.
Separately, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man denied rumours the party intends to boycott the Mahkota by-election.
“We have informed the leadership, including Muhyiddin Yassin, that we will send representatives from PAS. There is no boycott. We sent our vice-president (Amar Abdullah),” he said.
Hadi said PAS has instructed its machinery to support Bersatu’s candidate for the by-election, Haizan Jaafar.
“We issued written instructions to Johor PAS to fully participate (in the by-election), which is why not many came today (for the muktamar),” he said.
PAS denies links with GISBH
Hadi also denied any links between PAS and Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holding, whose welfare homes are being investigated by police for alleged abandonment, sexual assault, and harassment of children.
“There is no connection with us at all. They are not our members,” he said, adding that a news report by an unnamed international media linking PAS with GISBH was fake news.
He said PAS has regulatory bodies that can prevent sexual abuse from happening in schools run by the party.
