PETALING JAYA:
A company has denied that it operates the welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan raided by authorities yesterday.

Global Ikhwan Services & Business Holdings (GISBH) also denied claims that children under its care were sodomised and forced to sexually assault others.

GISBH said the allegations were “serious” and “malicious in nature” and had cast the company in a negative light.

“We deny these accusations as these welfare homes are clearly not operated by GISBH. It is not our policy to plan and carry out things that go against Islamic principles and the law.

“We will be lodging a police report to push for an investigation and those involved would be hauled to court,” it said in a statement today.

GISBH said there were “certain quarters” who had a hidden agenda, aimed at smearing its image and damaging its business.

It said it would not hesitate to take legal action against those who smeared its reputation.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said some of the 402 children who were rescued in raids on 20 welfare homes were sodomised and taught to sexually assault others.

The children, consisting of 201 boys and 201 girls, were believed to be victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse and abandonment.

Police also arrested 171 people, including an ustaz and a hostel warden.

GISBH had last night denied exploiting children as workers, adding that such allegations were malicious slander.

GISBH owns supermarkets, minimarkets, bakeries, 120 restaurants and other businesses in Malaysia, the Middle East, Europe and China, according to a 2022 report.

It previously said it had discarded its former image as the business wing of Al-Arqam and was currently positioned as a multinational company.
