PETALING JAYA:
Police have confirmed that a Russian woman had lodged a report that she was humiliated by a male influencer using obscene language on the TikTok application.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said a report was lodged at the Dang Wangi police station yesterday, Bernama reported.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a person and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities.

In a post on Threads, the woman said she decided to file the report following advice from those around her concerned about her safety.

“I went to the police station, not out of anger, but staying silent only protects individuals who harm others. No woman should be afraid to defend herself,” she said.

The incident reportedly went viral on TikTok after a man conducted a live broadcast while dining at a restaurant.

During the livestream, he allegedly recorded the woman without her consent and used obscene language directed at her.
