PETALING JAYA:
Registration for Malaysia’s single login system for internet users is now available through the MyDigital ID system’s mobile app, the company announced today.

MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd, a government-owned agency, said users of the mobile app can register for their digital ID without the need to visit the kiosks which have been set up at various locations.

After signing up for MyDigital ID, Malaysians will be able to login to various services using only one verification system, and will no longer need to register different passwords with service providers, the company said.

The MyDigital ID system has been integrated with the road transport department’s MyJPJ app, and several other government applications such as the Human Resources Management Information System, MySejahtera, and the MyGov portal.

“Users will no longer need to perform another biometric verification at JPJ counters,” the company said in a statement, Bernama reported. More government services will be integrated in the near future.

The company’s chief executive, Mirza Noor, said MyDigital ID users are protected from online fraud and identity theft thanks to the MyDigital ID certificate which is linked to the user’s personal device upon successful registration.

He gave the assurance that the company does not store any biometric data of its users, nor does it collect, monitor or store personal data.

He also pointed out that the system ensures users do not have more than one digital identity as a safety measure.

“The MyDigital ID system would be used to verify a user’s identity for logging in to government platforms and transactions, and data would not be collected.

“The system only compares the information contained within a MyKad and a user’s fingerprint or facial features against existing data held by government agencies such as the national registration department during the registration process,” he said.

So far, more than 600,000 Malaysians have registered with MyDigital ID, through 200 registration kiosks at registration department branches and 357 kiosks at Tealive outlets.
