Fire destroys madrasah in Sandakan, 22 students escape unharmed

The students managed to flee the building before the fire completely destroyed the single-block school.

KOTA KINABALU:
A madrasah in Sandakan was destroyed in a fire that broke out early this morning.

Sandakan fire and rescue department’s operations commander Samzari Ganih said the unit received a distress call on the fire at 1.33am today and sent a team to the school.

Upon arriving, the firemen found the building was fully engulfed in flames.

“The fire was extinguished at 3.34am and the operation ended at 4.19am. Nobody was injured,” said Samzari in a Facebook post.

It was reported that the students managed to flee the building in time before the fire completely destroyed the single-block school.
