Man dies after tree crushes car during thunderstorm in KL

PETALING JAYA:
A man in his 40s was killed after a tree fell and crushed his car near Hartamas Regency in Taman Duta, Kuala Lumpur, during a thunderstorm this afternoon.

The Kuala Lumpur fire and rescue department said a woman in her 30s was also injured when a tree fell on her car along Jalan Metro Prima in Kepong Baru.

In a third incident at Jalan Burung Baram in Taman Bukit Maluri, a car was damaged but no one was injured.

The department said it received multiple emergency calls after a thunderstorm struck the city centre between 4pm and 5.30pm.

“Personnel were immediately dispatched to several affected locations to conduct rescue, clean-up, and tree-cutting operations,” it said in a statement.

“All incidents were swiftly handled by our personnel, and the situation remained under control throughout the clean-up process.”
