PETALING JAYA:
Bukit Aman has ruled out any foul play in the recent custodial death in a lockup in Pahang.

Integrity and standards compliance director Azri Ahmad said preliminary findings of a post-mortem examination were that the victim died from “acute chronic lung infection with underlying pulmonary tuberculosis with Covid-19”.

The victim’s death had been classified as one of sudden death, he said in a statement.

Azri however said they would continue to investigate the death from every angle before handing over its findings to the coroner.

Yesterday, the department reported the death of the 42-year old detainee who had been taken to the Indera Mahkota centralised lockup on March 21.

It was the 14th death in custody case reported in the country this year.

The victim had been sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment under the Dangerous Drugs Act and was due to attend another hearing today on another drugs charge.

Azri said the man was given medicine for tuberculosis yesterday evening and was found unconscious about an hour later.
