Senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob also said most manufacturing sectors are to remain closed except for those involved with the production of food and beverage (F&B) products, the packaging of F&B products, cleaning products, medical products and aerospace.
Other manufacturing sectors that can open include those involved in oil and gas, personal protective equipment including rubber gloves and fire safety equipment, electrical and electronics, chemical products, and machinery and equipment for health and food only.
However, these factories may only operate at a 60% operating capacity. All sectors allowed to operate during the lockdown may only open from 8am to 8pm.
All food premises, including stalls, are allowed to operate during the lockdown but only for takeaways and deliveries, as per the movement control order which has been in place since May 12.
In a joint press conference with health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Ismail said private kindergartens, daycare centres and schools, as well as night markets and farmer’s markets, will also not be allowed to operate.
However, laundromats, veterinary clinics, hardware shops, vehicle workshops and opticians are allowed to operate.
The agricultural, livestock, fishing as well as plantation and commodity sectors will also be permitted to run as well as the related activities in its supply chain.
Morning markets are allowed to open from 6am to 2pm while wholesale markets can operate from midnight to 6am, then 11am to 4pm.
