SHAH ALAM: A total of 67 poultry farm employees from two companies in Bestari Jaya near here were evacuated to a relief centre at SK Rantau Panjang after a 10m-deep fissure and land subsidence occurred in an open area near the premises yesterday.
Selangor Fire and Rescue official Hafisham Mohd Noor said the fissure happened on a plot of land measuring more than 50,000 sq m near Jalan PKPS in Kampung Bestari Jaya near here.
He said the department was told that there was a victim buried in the sediment, however, after doing a headcount of workers at two nearby premises, no one was found missing.
Operations at the two premises have been suspended and the workers have been transferred from their hostel to SK Rantau Panjang.
