Ahmad Razif cancels all appearances in T’ganu

The Terengganu MB wants to concentrate on handling the crisis faced with the palace.

PETALING JAYA: Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman has reportedly cancelled all appearances scheduled for the week.

The news was confirmed by one of his officers, who said that these programmes will now be attended by a state exco member in his place.

“The Menteri Besar has no programmes for this week. He will be represented by an exco member instead.

“There were originally two programmes scheduled for his attendance this week,” the officer, who declined to be named, told FMT.

The officer explained that the cancellations may be due to the crisis currently faced by Ahmad Razif and the palace authorities.

“The Menteri Besar will not attend the public programmes so that he can defuse the situation.”

The crisis came to public attention after it was reported that Terengganu palace authorities had withdrawn the “Datuk Seri” title granted to Ahmad Razif.

No confirmation from the palace regarding the matter has come yet.

The crisis is believed to have stemmed from Ahmad Razif’s speech during a ceremony with Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.

Recent reports said Prime Minister Najib Razak was expected to visit Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin in the near future to get a clear picture of the crisis.

The public have been requested to refrain from speculating on the matter.

Two assemblymen from Telemong and Permaisuri, Rozi Mamat and Mohd Jidin Shafee respectively, are believed to have been named as candidates to replace Ahmad Razif as Terengganu Menteri Besar if the situation warrants it.
