PETALING JAYA:
Perak police are looking for a 20-year-old man who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl in Padang Rengas after they met for the first time last night.

Perak police chief Noor Hisam Nordin said the suspect picked the girl up from her family home in Lenggong at about 10pm to go out for a meal.

He said the man then took her to Taiping, before stopping at a house in Padang Rengas on their way back to her home.

“The suspect invited her into the house, where he raped her. The incident came to light after the girl was questioned by her brother upon returning home,” Utusan Malaysia quoted him as saying today.

He said the girl lodged a police report this morning and was sent for a medical checkup.

Noor Hisam said that based on the investigation, the victim had known the suspect for two months through a friend, and frequently communicated with him on WhatsApp.

“We have identified the man, and efforts are ongoing to find him for further investigation,” he said.
