Cops nab teacher in probe into sexual assault of schoolboy in Mersing

Police have arrested a teacher to assist in investigations into a case of sexual assault involving a nine-year-old schoolboy in Mersing, Johor.

Mersing police chief Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani said the 31-year-old man was arrested at 5.50pm yesterday after a report was lodged.

“A mobile phone was also seized. Investigations are still at an early stage,” Bernama reported him as saying today.

Razak said the suspect has been remanded for five days from today to facilitate further investigations.

The case is being investigated under Sections 14(a) and 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for sexual assault.
