Earlier today, Hadi said PAS is reassessing its alliance with Bersatu, including the possibility of contesting the next general election without the Muhyiddin Yassin-led party, in response to a series of actions by Bersatu that PAS did not agree with.
In a statement, Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said issues that arise between the parties should be examined comprehensively in the spirit of camaraderie, mutual understanding, and shared responsibility to strengthen unity within PN.
“Accordingly, Bersatu will review all matters raised and discuss them in depth at the upcoming meetings of its political bureau and Supreme Council,” he said.
Hadi told reporters PAS was not pleased with several of Bersatu’s recent actions.
The Marang MP cited several issues that strained ties between the two parties, including developments in Perlis, alleged interference in appointments involving Kedah and Kelantan, and Bersatu’s opposition to admitting new Malay-Muslim parties into PN.
Hadi also claimed that Bersatu lacked sufficient grassroots machinery during previous elections despite demanding a large share of seats, saying PAS members ultimately carried much of the workload on the ground.
PN was fundamentally built on political cooperation between Bersatu and PAS during the 2020 political crisis, which saw the Pakatan Harapan government toppled after a series of defections.
However, tensions have increasingly surfaced between Bersatu and PAS over leadership influence, state-level appointments, seat allocations, and the coalition’s future direction.
