Cheras police chief Rosdi Daud said the 13-year-old, accompanied by his parents, presented himself at a police station after a video of the incident went viral on social media, Bernama reported.
“The boy allegedly threw a brick and a plastic chair to the residential block’s ground floor, causing concern and anxiety among residents,” he was quoted as saying.
Rosdi added that no injuries were reported.
The 30-second video shows a teenage boy walking along an apartment corridor before throwing an object believed to be a brick towards the ground.
Separately, Rosdi said police detained a foreign man who attempted to flee a roadblock in Pekan Sungai Besi last Tuesday.
He said that in the 6.23am incident, a Perodua Axia carrying three men sped off after being instructed to stop by officers on duty at Jalan Suasa 6, Sungai Besi, prompting the pursuit.
“The suspects’ vehicle collided with two civilian vehicles in a residential area before being intercepted by Sungai Besi police patrol units with assistance from another unit in Kampung Pandan, Ampang,” he said.
Rosdi said checks revealed the 53-year-old Indonesian suspect did not possess valid identification documents or a driving licence, while his two accomplices managed to escape and are being tracked down.
He said the suspect was remanded for two weeks from last Tuesday to assist in the investigation.
