Kosmo reported that he was charged before judge N Priscilla Hemanthani with six counts of sexually assaulting the victims, aged between six and 11 years old, at a house in Alor Setar, Kedah, from December 2023 until August this year.

The charges against him were under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for sexual assault, read together with Section 16(1) of the same Act.

The man was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and two strokes of the rotan for each charge under Section 14(a), to be served separately, totalling up to 18 years and 12 strokes.

He was also sentenced to an additional 10 years’ imprisonment and 10 strokes of the rotan under Section 16(1).

The man also faced six counts under Section 377B of the Penal Code for carnal intercourse against the order of nature with the same victims.

Priscilla sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment and two strokes of the rotan for each charge, totalling up to 30 years and 12 strokes.

The man was also charged with one count of rape under Section 376(2)(e) of the Penal Code with his 11-year-old stepdaughter in May 2025, and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment and two strokes of the rotan.

The overall custodial sentence was set at 55 years after Priscilla ordered for some of the sentences to be served concurrently.

Priscilla also ordered that the man undergo restorative counselling throughout his imprisonment, and three years’ police monitoring after his release.

The prosecution was managed by deputy public prosecutor Vatchira Wong Rui Fern, while the accused was unrepresented. He is now serving his sentence at the Pokok Sena prison.
