PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a man suspected of confining and sodomising a 14-year-old boy at an apartment in Bukit Kemuning, Section 32, Shah Alam last week.

Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said the suspect, in his 40s, was arrested at a rented room in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

He said the suspect, who was released from prison in April 2025, is currently working as a debt collector.

“We believe that the room (occupied by the suspect at the time of arrest) may have been newly rented after he moved from Shah Alam,” Berita RTM reported him as saying at the Selangor police headquarters today.

Shazeli said a urine test returned negative for drugs, and that the man was remanded until tomorrow to assist in investigations.

Earlier, Shah Alam police chief Ramsay Embol said the teenager was allegedly confined and sodomised by an unidentified man at an apartment in Section 32, Shah Alam, on May 12.

The victim later shouted for help from the bedroom window of the apartment, and was rescued by nearby residents who also called the police.

Initial police investigations found that the suspect lured the victim by offering him a mobile phone internet package on the condition that he help carry items into the suspect’s home.

Ramsay said the suspect was convicted of the rape, robbery, and confinement of a woman in 2008.

Police are investigating the case under Section 342 of the Penal Code for wrongful confinement, Section 377C for committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent, and Section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt.
