Man pleads guilty to setting MBJB tow truck ablaze

A 31-year-old unemployed man has pleaded guilty to committing mischief by fire by setting a Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) tow truck on fire last week.

Wan Nasrul W Ahmad made the plea after he was charged in the Johor Bahru sessions court, and apologised to MBJB for his actions, Sinar Harian reported.

Wan Nasrul was charged with using petrol to set fire to the tow truck owned by MBJB with the intention of causing RM24,000 in damage to property.

The offence was committed at the JB Waterfront vehicle storage depot at 11.07am on Aug 15.

Wan Nasrul, who will be sentenced tomorrow, faces up to 14 years in prison and a fine.

Judge Talha Bachok allowed Wan Nasrul bail of RM7,000 and ordered him to report to the nearest police station every month and surrender his passport.
