Backed by a capacity crowd, the Malaysian world No 3 pair took 63 minutes to overpower the defending champions 21-19, 17-21, 21-15 at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
They will meet compatriots Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun in the final tomorrow. Whoever wins, it will be their first men’s doubles title on home soil.
Today’s victory was the fifth for newly crowned Thailand Open champions Aaron-Wooi Yik in their six encounters with the Danish pair so far.
The final tomorrow is not expected to be plain sailing for Aaron-Wooi Yik as they have lost twice to Wei Chong-Kai Wun in their three encounters to date.
The last time they met was at the Indonesia Masters in January where Wei Chong-Kai Wun defeated them in the semi-finals.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun then went on to beat Indonesia’s top pair Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto for their third title in their career.
Aaron-Wooi Yik could likely notch another personal record if they win the Malaysia Masters – a hattrick of titles – following their back-to-back victories at the Badminton Asia Championships in April and the Thailand Open last week.
Tomorrow’s final will also end a 12-year drought for Malaysia in the men’s doubles event at the Malaysian Masters. Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah won the title in 2013.
The Malaysia Masters is a World Tour Super 500 series. The doubles champions will earn US$37,525 (RM159,000) and the runners-up, US$18,050 (RM76,542). The semi-finalists will each receive US$6,650 (RM28,200).
