The 11th-ranked Indonesians defeated world No 5 pair Wei Chong-Kai Wun 21-16, 21-15 in 33 minutes at the World Tour Super 500 championship in Saarbrucken, Germany.
The match was the third victory for the Indonesians over Wei Chong-Kai Wun in their four encounters so far.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun will take home US$6,650 (RM27,913) as semi-finalists.
Despite the loss, the Malaysian pair moved up to third in the World Tour Finals ranking after amassing 6,420 points as semi-finalists, placing them in a very strong position to qualify for December’s prestigious Super 1000 season-ender in Hangzhou, China.
With compatriots Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik second in the ranking, the fate of Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani also hangs by a thread as only the top eight in the list qualify for the finals.
The finals are also limited to a maximum of two pairs from a country in each of the categories.
