PETALING JAYA:
PKR has brought forward the date of its national congress by a day to May 24. This is to enable the party president and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to meet Asean leaders on the originally scheduled date of May 25.

In a statement this evening, PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said the youth and women’s wings will have their congress on May 22, with the opening ceremonies held the night before.

On May 23, the party will hold its central election and opening ceremony for the national congress.

Fuziah previously said the national congress was expected to see about 10,000 delegates cast their ballots in person for the central leadership election, while over 20,000 others will vote online.

She said this year’s internal election would be PKR’s first time using the “proportional representation” system, after it was approved by a special congress on Dec 15 last year.
