KUALA LUMPUR:
Traffic is moving slowly on several major expressways tonight with more vehicles heading out as Klang Valley dwellers return to their hometowns to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The Malaysian Highway Authority said that northbound traffic on the E1 and E2 (North-South highway) was slow going, as well as on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak highway.

On the E1, congestion was reported from Sungai Buloh to Bukit Tagar; Slim River to Sungkai; Tapah to Gopeng; Kuala Kangsar to Changkat Jering; and Perai to Bertam. On the E2, slow traffic was reported from Senai Utara to Sedenak.

Eastbound traffic on the E22 (Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway) was also experiencing congestion from Greenwood to the Gombak toll plaza, while traffic on the Karak highway was slow moving from the toll plaza to Bentong.

However, traffic flow on the East Coast Expressway remains smooth.

Police in Gua Musang, Kelantan, expect an increase after midnight and the early morning.
