
PETALING JAYA: A 43-year-old medical officer has been arrested by police on suspicion of indecent behaviour at a hospital in George Town, Penang.
In a statement, Timur Laut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the suspect, a Malaysian, was arrested at 9.30pm yesterday at the hospital he worked at.
He is under remand until March 2.
The case is being probed under Section 509 of the Penal Code for uttering a word or making a gesture intended to insult a person’s modesty, an offence punishable by up to five years in prison, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Police are also investigating the case under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour, which provides for a maximum RM100 fine.
