Seremban police chief Azahar Abdul Rahim said police were informed of the incident by the baby’s mother, a taska teacher in her 30s, who said she had been told that the babysitter found the infant unconscious and brought him to a clinic at 10pm.
“The baby was then brought to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital, where the doctor on duty conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation before pronouncing the baby dead.
“Investigations found that the baby had been in the care of the babysitter, who is also in her 30s, since December.
“The victim is said to have been put to sleep in a cradle and given a silicone pacifier at the time of the incident,” he said in a statement today.
Azahar said the baby’s body was sent to Rembau Hospital for an autopsy. The babysitter meanwhile was arrested to assist in investigations under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect.
