‘Man Tiger’ nabbed for shooting at couple

PETALING JAYA:
A man known as “Man Tiger” was arrested after a shooting in Johor yesterday.

Kluang police chief Bahrin Noh said the victim and her husband were standing at the entrance of their house in Kampung Bukit Batu Machap, Simpang Renggam, when three men approached them.

“One of the suspects fired four shots at the victim. The suspects then fled while firing two more shots,” told Sinar Harian.

Bahrin said the couple was unharmed as the six shots hit the door frame of the house and a table.

He said the suspect known as “Man Tiger” was arrested in Simpang Renggam at 7pm yesterday.

Bahrin said the unemployed man is 32 years old and has a criminal record linked to 27 previous cases, including 18 drug-related offences.

He later tested positive for methamphetamine.

The shooting is being investigated under Section 3 of the Firearms (Heavier Penalties) Act 1971 for discharging a firearm during the commission of an offence, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.

The case is also being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder, which carries a 20-year jail term upon conviction.
