They had got off to a good start in their opening match on Wednesday when they came from behind to defeat China’s Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi 21-18, 21-18.
Two other Malaysian men’s doubles pairs are still in contention, having qualified for today’s quarter-finals.
Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, who have continued their fine form in recent weeks, will take on Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Rian Ardianto, while Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun face a tricky match against China’s Liang Weikeng-Wang Chan.
Other Malaysians vying for semi-final spots are national singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia, who will face Koki Watanabe of Japan; women’s double pair Pearly Tan-M Thinaah, who will take on Chang Ching Hui-Yang Ching Tun of China; and mixed doubles pairs Hoo Pan Rong-Cheng Su Yin and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai, who will feature in an all-Malaysian clash.
