He said RM20 million had also been channelled for the construction of crematoriums in several states, including Kedah, Johor, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Penang.

“May the socioeconomic status of the Indian community in this country continue to improve in the future, God willing,” he said in a post on X.

Anwar said the government’s commitment to the Indian community would continue through Budget 2025, which would be presented on Oct 18.

Anwar, who is also finance minister, said the government had never neglected the welfare of the Indian community and continuously looked into improving all key aspects, including education, places of worship, and employment opportunities.

He also cited past allocations given to the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) and increased funding for programmes such as the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia.
