“Muda is here. They informed me that they have agreed to help in our election campaign,” Azmin told reporters after a PN ceramah last night where some Muda members were present.
He said 52% of the voters in Mahkota are youths, hence Muda is important as it has a strong appeal among young voters.
“So the fact that they are here tonight is a good sign that they will help us in our election campaign,” he said.
Azmin also said he will be heading to Johor Bahru on Saturday to attend the wedding reception of Muda’s acting president, Amira Aisya Abd Aziz.
“Let her spend her honeymoon for a few days, then hopefully, Muda will help us in Mahkota,” he said.
Last week, Muda decided to sit out the by-election, saying it wanted to focus on strengthening its grassroots in Johor.
Muda has not contested in previous by-elections, including those in Nenggiri, Kelantan, and Kuala Kubu Baharu, Selangor, in April.
Azmin also said Pejuang is ready to help PN in the by-election.
“PN is taking the lead in gathering these forces and making sure we put up a formidable fight against Umno,” he said.
Pejuang also said last week it will not contest in the Mahkota by-election and will continue to support PN.
Party president Mukhriz Mahathir said Pejuang remains steadfast that it will align with any political party, except Umno
It will be a straight fight between Barisan Nasional’s Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah and PN’s Haizan Jaafar in the Mahkota by-election, to be held on Sept 28.
