GEORGE TOWN:
A DAP MP has lodged a report against Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin for allegedly questioning the authority of the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong, after the Youth and Puteri wings of Pekan Umno filed a similar report yesterday.

Jelutong MP RSN Rayer, who lodged the report at the Jalan Patani police station here, called for Muhyiddin to be investigated under the Sedition Act, similar to Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor.

“The menteri besar has already been charged at the Shah Alam court over making a 3R (race, religion and royalty) remark, so the same (action) should be taken against Muhyiddin,” Rayer told a press conference attended by DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng and other leaders.

“What Muhyiddin uttered was slander and denigrated the authority and dignity of the Agong. DAP upholds the sanctity of the royal institution.”

Yesterday, Umno vice-president Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail called on the authorities to take action against Muhyiddin, who is also the Bersatu president, for his allegedly disrespectful remarks about Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

It is believed that the reports are about an election campaign speech in which Muhyiddin claimed to have the support of 115 MPs after the 2022 general election and should have been called by the king to be appointed as the 10th prime minister.

Rayer said a clip of Muhyiddin’s speech has gone viral on TikTok.
