Rider killed in 5-bike pile-up in Jasin

Police say one of the riders hit debris on the road and fell, causing others to crash.

MELAKA:
A motorcyclist was killed and four others were injured when they crashed at Km190.7 southbound of the North-South Expressway near Jasin today.

Jasin police chief Ahmad Jamil Radzi identified the victim as Afirzul Hamzah, 35, a lorry driver from Jementah, Johor.

He was riding in a convoy of 20 motorcycles heading from Simpang Ampat, Alor Gajah, to Johor when the 2am accident happened.

“One of the riders, Zakrul Ariffin Minhat, 20, hit an object on the road, possibly a tyre fragment, lost control, and fell.

“This caused four other riders, including the victim, to also fall,” he said in a statement here today.

He said Zakrul and the other three injured motorcyclists were sent to Jasin Hospital.
