Police say preliminary investigations have found no criminal elements in the case.

Police have classified the case of a woman who fell from the 21st floor of a hotel in Penang as sudden death, pending a post-mortem report.
PETALING JAYA:
A private university student died after falling from the 21st floor of a hotel in Tanjung Bungah, Georgetown, yesterday.

Members of the public discovered the 24-year-old’s body at about 3.35pm and reported the incident to the police, Berita Harian said.

Northeast police chief Razlam Ab Hamid was quoted as saying that preliminary investigations found no criminal elements in the case.

“The case has been classified as sudden death, and a post-mortem is being done at Penang Hospital today,” he said.

It is understood that the incident occurred not long after the woman checked into the hotel with a male friend.

The man was reported to have said that he only realised what had happened after seeing a crowd of people gathered on the ground floor and going down to the scene himself.
