A 61-year-old woman in Kulim, Kedah, died on Tuesday in a suspected case of domestic violence, according to the police.

Checks found that the woman had head injuries and bruises on her face and all over her body, he said.

“An autopsy revealed that the deceased had suffered injuries to her head and also had old as well as new bruises all over her body as a result of domestic violence.

“The deceased’s 57-year-old husband was arrested and has been placed under remand until April 15 to assist in the investigation,” he said in a statement.

Azizul added that the case is being probed for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for the death penalty or between 30 and 40 years in jail.
