PETALING JAYA:
The Kemuning-Shah Alam Highway (LKSA) has had a positive impact on Shah Alam, improving both transportation and the local economy, says Prolintas Group CEO Azlan Abdullah.

He said before the highway’s opening in 2010, the traffic situation in Shah Alam had worsened due to the growing population.

“When LKSA started operating over 13 years ago, it came at a good time to support the needs of the growing population and tackle the increasing traffic congestion.

“This highway improves connectivity and enhances transportation between Shah Alam and Kota Kemuning.

“With six well-planned interchanges, including access to the 1,200-acre (486ha) Alam Impian township, and being a crucial alternative route to Kota Kemuning, this three-lane dual carriageway enhances the overall transportation infrastructure,” he told FMT.

LKSA spans 14.7km from Kota Kemuning to the Federal Highway.

Its six strategic interchanges link to Kota Kemuning, Jalan Bukit Kemuning, Alam Impian, Bulatan Jubli Perak, Bulatan Selangor and Federal Highway Route 2.

Azlan said user feedback had been positive, noting that the benefits extend beyond offering commuters an alternative route. It also bolsters the growth of townships in Shah Alam.

“LKSA serves as a seamless link, connecting Lebuhraya Shah Alam (Kesas) in the south to Federal Highway Route 2 in the north, making it convenient for the numerous daily commuters travelling to and from work.”

LKSA opened a new lay-by at Alam Impian last year, providing better rest-stop facilities for highway users. It also has an event space there called Urban Park that can accommodate up to 800 people at a time.

Azlan said the company remained committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of LKSA users.

“LKSA witnesses over 84,000 users daily and we anticipate this number to remain consistent in the coming years.

“While our priority is to ensure a seamless journey for commuters, safety remains our utmost concern.

“Our ongoing dedication to safety is evident through routine inspections that cover expansion joints, piers, generators, lane barriers, road surfaces, lighting systems and landscaping,” he said.

Azlan said these efforts ensure the highway remains a secure and reliable choice for road users.

The highway is designed, built and operated by Projek Lintasan Shah Alam Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned company of Prolintas through Prolintas Infra Business Trust.

Prolintas Infra Business Trust is slated to be listed on the main market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd in the first quarter of this year.
