Federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the temporary units at the Sri Johor PPR will be ready for occupancy from Thursday.
Zaliha said those who owned the damaged units would be allowed to stay in the temporary housing for six months, while those renting the units could stay for up to three years.
“DBKL will repair the damaged houses, but the owners will be responsible for the interior parts of the units,” she told reporters at the temporary relocation centre set up at SK Seri Cheras today.
The five families, comprising 16 people, are putting up at the temporary relocation centre.
Zaliha reminded residents to take care of public property, especially fire extinguishers, as their neglect could potentially lead to problems during emergencies.
She said her ministry and the housing and local government ministry will jointly inspect the fire alarm systems in flats in the city.
