NGO offers RM20,000 reward for info on Zayn’s killer

The information must lead to the suspect's arrest and them being charged in court, says the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation of Selangor.

The Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) of Selangor is offering a RM20,000 reward for those who furnish any leads on the murder suspect of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.

“The Selangor MCPF is offering a RM20,000 reward to those who help the police with information leading to the arrest of the suspect until they are charged in court,” MCPF deputy chairman A Thaiveegan said in a media conference at the Shah Alam police headquarters.

The former Penang police chief, who retired in 2019, said the reward would be channelled through the Selangor police headquarters.

Meanwhile, Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the police had yet to find any leads in identifying the suspect, despite numerous efforts.

He said police had inspected 1,913 flat units and 216 vehicles since the murder in December. They also quizzed 5,786 people, detained 17, and collected 262 DNA samples.

“We have also taken 168 items from the area of the scene, inspected 15 closed-circuit television videos and carried out forensic investigations in 42 flat units, assisted by K9 dogs,” he told the media.

Zayn, an autistic six-year-old boy, was reported missing at noon on Dec 5 last year. He was found dead the next day near a stream about 200m from his home with injuries to his neck.

The case was reclassified from sudden death to murder after a post-mortem revealed injuries to the boy’s body. Defensive wounds were also found.
