KUALA LUMPUR:
The police are unable to confirm the identity of “Mr H” until they corroborate it with community communications department (J-Kom) official Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jailani.

Wahab, who is embroiled in a controversy over an alleged lewd video that also features former J-Kom director-general Agus Yusoff, had been unable to assist the police in their investigation into the matter because of concerns about his safety.

“We can only confirm his (Mr H’s) identity if Wahab comes forward,” Bukit Aman criminal investigation department (CID) director Shuhaily Zain said at a press conference here today.

Shuhaily said the police have yet to confirm whether the video was doctored.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain yesterday said an individual known as “Mr H” gave his statement to the police in connection with the case.

Wahab, an assistant community district officer at J-Kom, previously claimed he was pushed by a “Mr H” to record a video call with Agus. He said the video was then doctored and leaked online.

Wahab, who is also vice-chairman of Hulu Langat PKR Youth, said he had been pressured to record the video call with Agus since he had just joined J-Kom on Nov 1.

Wahab’s lawyer, Faizal Rahman, told FMT on Wednesday that while Razarudin had urged Wahab to come forward to assist in the investigation, his client was concerned over two groups of people who had come ‘looking for him” at his house.

Faizal said one group claimed to be policemen, but they were not in uniform, while the other group said they were from a political party.

Shuhaily said the police had tried to assure Wahab, through his lawyer, that his safety would be guaranteed if he came forward.

“He needs to let us know what threats he has faced so far. We are ready to help him and ensure his safety in the context of settling the case,” he said.

“We urge him to come forward and cooperate with us in the investigation.”
