The case came to light after two former residents, now 18 years old, came forward to share their “nightmare experiences” at the welfare home in Taman Selayang Permata with an NGO.
The NGO’s head told FMT the group visited the premises to verify the claims, and that the children living there “opened up” about the incidents they allegedly faced.
Pertubuhan Kebangkitan Tiga Tangan Selangor president S Maran claimed that at least 20 boys were sexually abused at the home. It is understood that the home houses 36 children: 23 boys and 13 girls.
“I went to the police to lodge a report on March 29,” said Maran.
“So far, seven victims taken to hospital were confirmed to have injuries, including old and new wounds, believed to be consistent with sexual abuse.”
Siti Kamsiah Hassan, the principal assistant director of Bukit Aman’s sexual, women and child investigation division, confirmed the arrests.
“The suspects have been arrested and investigations are ongoing,” she said, as reported by the New Straits Times.
