PETALING JAYA:
Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Shuhaily Zain has issued a stern warning against “traitors” in the agency who allow foreigners to enter the country unchecked.

He said the agency has yet to identify the officers involved in the matter.

“It seems I will have to come here (Thai border) more often to identify the traitors,” Bernama reported him as saying today, in response to public concerns about foreigners entering through the Bukit Kayu Hitam border.

Earlier, Shuhaily attended the handover ceremony of the Bukit Kayu Hitam AKPS commander’s post from Nasaruddin Nasir to Fauzi Yusuf.

Nasaruddin, who served as Bukit Kayu Hitam commander from Jan 10, 2025, to March 31, 2026, will become deputy director-general (operations) at the AKPS headquarters.

Fauzi assumed his duties as the new Bukit Kayu Hitam commander today.

Shuhaily also said the agency will tighten border controls to curb the smuggling of subsidised goods, following the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

“We will work with the domestic trade and cost of living ministry to carry out joint enforcement,” he said.
