Kelantan wants to improve ties with Putrajaya, says MB

Menteri besar Nassuruddin Daud says the PAS-led state government will be mature in its administration to ensure the wellbeing of the people.

KOTA BHARU:
The Kelantan government will take a mature approach to strengthen its relationship with the federal government for the wellbeing of the people, says newly-appointed menteri besar Nassuruddin Daud.

He said a strong government-to-government relationship is important for the benefit of all, especially the people of Kelantan.

“We will also continue the legacy of developing with Islam. This policy places Islam as the foundation of the administration.

“Also, my priority is to become a menteri besar for all Kelantan folk, regardless of race or background,” he said at his first press conference as menteri besar at the state administrative headquarters, located at the MABNA-MBI building, here today.

Earlier, Nassuruddin, who is also Meranti assemblyman, clocked in for his first day in charge of the state administraion at 8.30am. He also spent time talking with staff of the menteri besar’s office before starting his duties.

Nassuruddin said the line-up of state executive councillors (exco) that has been approved and appointed by the sultan of Kelantan is balanced and comprised individuals from various fields, including scholars, technocrats and professionals.

Yesterday, Nassuruddin was sworn in as the new menteri besar before Kelantan’s Sultan Muhammad V at the Istana Negeri, Kubang Kerian. Nine assemblymen were also sworn in as exco members.

Nassuruddin said the portfolios of the exco members will be announced soon.
