PETALING JAYA:
Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) president Anifah Aman will be made a senator, a source told FMT.

He is expected to be sworn in on Monday.

Anifah, a longtime member of Umno, was a four-term MP for Kimanis. He left Umno in September 2018 after Barisan Nasional lost power and became president of PCS in 2020.

In January, the former foreign minister was appointed special adviser on international relations and foreign investment to Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor.

In the lead up to the 15th general election in November last year, Anifah openly supported Anwar Ibrahim to be the prime minister.

During that period, analysts said Anifah’s support was a major boost for Pakatan Harapan’s election campaign in Sabah.
