With this claim, it appears that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman is set to continue helming the state after days of political turmoil which threatened his position.
Earlier, the media reported that the 44 assemblymen converged at Hajiji’s official residence to discuss the latest position of the government and the current political situation.
Prior to the political turmoil, Hajiji was backed by 53 representatives, comprising GRS (29 seats), Barisan Nasional (17) and Pakatan Harapan (7). Besides the 73 elected assemblymen, six were appointed by the ruling party.
Speaking to the media after meeting the assemblymen, Hajiji said this meant that his government was still intact and he would continue leading the state.
Asked about the position of the state Cabinet, Hajiji said a reshuffle would be made soon.
Among the assemblymen present at the meeting, other than the GRS representatives, were the seven from Pakatan Harapan and five from Barisan Nasional.
Hajiji said those who questioned the constitutionality of his move were free to go to the courts.
