PH’s manifesto committee member, Rajiv Rishyakaran said Perikatan Nasional’s manifesto failed to elaborate on its commitment to the esports industry while Barisan Nasional had ignored it altogether.
PH outlined policies it would implement for the industry, including holding major annual events, streamlining and digitising visas for international esports athletes, nurturing potential local athletes, and addressing inconsistencies in the responsibilities or jurisdictions of esports governing bodies.
Rajiv, who is also Bukit Gasing assemblyman, said these policies would benefit Malaysian youths and also the economy.

“These items will increase the government’s focus on esports, which will result in a positive economic spillover in terms of sports tourism. Athletes can fly over with their teams to train at these training centres,” he said in a statement.
Rajiv added that PH would continue to grow the traditional sports industry in the country through an action plan that will involve strategic investments and restructuring the development of its ecosystem.
This includes upgrading selected sports facilities with the latest technology, increasing citizens’ access to these facilities, and increasing opportunities for talents at the grassroots level.
Rajiv also said PH would partner with the National Athletes Welfare Foundation to provide skill training programmes and careers for former athletes post-retirement, as well as form a dedicated sports council to assist and support the private sector.
