Its caretaker minister Fadillah Yusof said the meeting between the concession holders, main contractors and the affected sub-contractors for the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH) and Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Expressway (SUKE), would ensure that all outstanding payments be settled as soon as possible.
Fadillah said LLM had the regulatory power to audit the budgets for the highway and to intervene under the concession agreements.
He said the ministry took note that there were complaints of late payments owed to certain contractors for work done on DASH.
“We understand that certain contractors are also affected by outstanding payments for the recently opened SUKE,” he said in a statement.
Fadillah pointed out that the concession holders, and not the government, were responsible for all payments to the contractors.
“In this case, the concession holders of the recently opened DASH and SUKE are under highway operator Prolintas,” he said.
Earlier today, caretaker Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob urged the ministry to explain unpaid debts for DASH, saying all outstanding payments must be settled.
Ismail was responding to allegations of unpaid payments to some sub-contractors amounting to RM80 million that have caused difficulties to the businesses involved.
