Wushu coach held over sexual assault faces more charges

Police say the suspect is now linked to four cases in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

Police have handed their investigation paper against the wushu instructor to the deputy public prosecutor’s office.
KUALA LUMPUR:
A wushu instructor, who was investigated by the Selangor police last week for allegedly molesting an underage student, is expected to face more charges.

Kuala Lumpur police have received two additional reports involving two other alleged victims, aged 12 and 13, who were also his students at a wushu academy in Cheras.

City criminal investigation department chief Habibi Majinji said the investigation papers have been sent to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions.

“We have completed the investigations and hope to get the 31-year-old suspect charged as soon as possible,” he said.

Last week, Kajang police said they were investigating the suspect in a case involving a 13-year-old girl.

Today, Habibi revealed that police had investigated two cases in Selangor and two cases in Kuala Lumpur, making a total of four possible victims.

He said the suspect would persuade his students to follow him in his car after training and take advantage of them.

Investigations showed that he had committed the act against his students as early as 2020.

In an update later today, Kajang police chief Zaid Hassan said the suspect would face 11 charges at a Putrajaya sessions court tomorrow over the offence against the 13-year-old girl.

“He will face 10 charges under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. He will also be slapped with one charge under Section 16(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,” he said in a statement.
