MP among Pejuang’s 42 candidates in Johor polls

Party president Mukhriz Mahathir said most of Pejuang’s candidates were new faces except for Sri Gading MP Shahruddin Salleh and former Nusajaya assemblyman Zaini Abu Bakar.

PETALING JAYA:
Johor Pejuang chief Shahruddin Salleh is among the party’s 42 candidates who will contest in the upcoming state elections.

Pejuang president Mukhriz Mahathir, who announced the party’s candidates today, said Shahruddin will contest in the Machap state seat.

In a press conference, Mukhriz said most of Pejuang’s candidates were new faces except for Shahruddin, who is Sri Gading MP, and former Nusajaya assemblyman Zaini Abu Bakar.

He said four candidates were women.

“They come from a variety of backgrounds and most of the Pejuang candidates are first-time participants in politics.

“Many come from the private sector, NGOs and the academic sector,” he said.

Shahruddin is also the former deputy works minister.
