
The Bukit Jelutong interchange at the Guthrie Expressway was nearly impassable, as almost all six lanes were under water.
Several motorists used the hard shoulder to escape the flood waters, but the opposite side of the road was impassable.
A video shared on social media showed a river next to the interchange had burst its banks.
The floods, near the Shah Alam toll plaza, occurred as early as 6.30am and only started subsiding two hours later.
Comments left by netizens on Facebook showed the floods started after heavy rain from 3am in Shah Alam.
According to Media Selangor, the official media of the state government, several areas in Shah Alam also reported a rise in floodwaters as early as 7am.
The areas affected were TTDI Jaya, Section 13, Bukit Jelutong, and near the Shah Alam toll plaza. A PLUS official said the toll plaza was now clear and free of obstruction.
Flash floods across the country had disrupted traffic flow along roads and claimed the lives of 27. Twenty of them were in Selangor and seven in Pahang.
