Nilai district police chief Mohd Fazley Ab Rahman said the cops from his district were part of the raiding party and that they were accompanied by two Penang policemen to search for a wanted man in a cheating case at that condo unit.
He said the raiding party had properly introduced themselves and showed the resident their police ID cards.
“There were no arrests or seizure of items as the man we were looking for in the case was not at home. We would like to advise the public not to sensationalise this issue when we were merely carrying out our job,” he said in a statement.
From midnight until about 2am, the woman at the condo unit in Logan Road used the live broadcast feature on Facebook to show a group of men, who claimed to be police officers outside her door, demanding that she open the door for a raid.
One of the cops carried a large set of bolt-cutters and told her to open up or her door grille would be prised open. The woman did not budge.
She then went on to say she was live-streaming the incident because she was afraid that the men may not be cops as they claimed.
Later, two more Penang policemen in uniform arrived at the condominium to assure her that they were real cops and the woman allowed them to enter her home.
