National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin said this would add up to a total of 2,490,930 doses in the country by May 21.
In a press conference today, he also said the second batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine is set to arrive on May 20. Another 615,120 doses would also be sent on June 1.
Khairy previously announced that a million more doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were expected this month under the Covax initiative.
“At the moment, based on vaccine supply, vaccination centres are scheduled to operate six days a week.
“They will operate seven days a week in June, when we foresee a greater number of vaccine doses arriving,” he said.
He added that the roll-out of the public-private partnership vaccination programme has yet to commence as the government’s current priorities are wrapping up Phase 1 and ensuring the smooth implementation of Phase 2.
