Cops tracking down rubber pipe assailants in viral video

They say the video was apparently taken in a room at a vape shop in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur.

Police said they had identified the men seen in the viral video showing a man being beaten with a rubber pipe.

Police are tracking down the individuals seen assaulting a man with a rubber pipe in a 54-second closed circuit television video clip, which went viral recently.

The video showed the victim being assaulted by two others. The other men in the video watched without interfering.

Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said a police report was lodged by the Criminal Investigation Department at the Dang Wangi police district headquarters to investigate the source of the video.

He said investigations would be carried out under Sections 324 and 342 of the Penal Code.

Speaking to The Star, he said the incident was believed to have occurred at a vape shop in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur. He said police had already identified the suspects.

He urged those involved to come forward willingly.

“The public is advised not to share or spread the video on social media to avoid public distress,” he said.
